A SHORT DOCUMENTARY FILM

Hotel Al follows Al Barras, a quick-tongued, Cajun hustler celebrating his 55th year working for the oldest family-owned hotel in America -- the Hotel Monteleone in the French Quarter of New Orleans.  With the help of Southern literature expert, Dr. Kenneth Holditch and other Orleanian voices, this short documentary explores the iconic freedom of the French Quarter and the stifling effects of gentrification and tourism, through the small world of a local legend, whose candid views on life offer refreshing yet bittersweet taste of the human condition.
